Nestled in the picturesque hills of West Kelowna, Niche Wine Company is more than just a winery—it’s a farm and a way of life. Founded by James and Joanna Schlosser, Niche Wine Company embodies the perfect blend of farming and winemaking, welcoming everyone to experience their unique approach.

Perched 620 meters above the valley floor, the farm offers breathtaking views and a unique terroir where the soil, sun, and wind work in harmony to create exceptional wines. The belief that great wine starts in the vineyard is deeply ingrained at Niche, but their connection to the land goes even deeper. This farm is the heart and soul of their operations.

James Schlosser, who grew up on this very farm, has a profound connection to the land. His parents planted the first grapes here in the ’90s, and James has continued their legacy with passion and dedication. With a Master’s degree in Oenology and Viticulture from Brock University and over 15 years of winemaking experience, James understands that wine is an expression of place and time. Every bottle of Niche wine is a tribute to the land and community that nurtured him.

Joanna Schlosser, with her background as an innovative global marketer, brings creativity and fun to the winery. Her passion for storytelling and creating immersive experiences ensures that every initiative at Niche resonates with authenticity and impact.

The vineyard, though small, produces grapes that ripen slowly at this altitude, developing complex and compelling flavors. Farming at Niche is about more than just growing grapes; it’s about working in harmony with nature and embracing the challenges and rewards that come with it. From planting vines to harvesting fruit, the process is guided by love, respect, and patience.

Niche Wine Company is also committed to sustainability. They have introduced a growler program to reduce waste and built new Outside Inn Cabins using sustainable ‘sea-can’ construction, offering guests a chance to immerse themselves in farm life. The farm is the heartbeat of everything they do, where their story begins, their wine is born, and their legacy is built for generations to come.
