Profile
Weingut C.A. Haussmann, located in the picturesque town of Traben-Trarbach in the Mosel region of Germany, is a winery steeped in history and tradition. Established in 1559, it is one of the oldest wineries on the Middle Moselle. The estate is currently managed by Stefan Stassen, who took over in 2014 after completing his winemaking apprenticeship at the winery in 19821.
The winery is renowned for its exceptional Rieslings, which are cultivated on six hectares of prime vineyard sites, including Taubenhaus, Königsberg, Kräuterhaus, and Würzgarten1. These vineyards benefit from the unique terroir of the Mosel region, characterized by steep slopes and slate soils, which impart a distinctive mineral quality to the wines.
Weingut C.A. Haussmann produces a range of wines, from dry Rieslings to sweet Auslese and Spätlese, all of which showcase the winery’s commitment to quality and tradition1. The “Schieferjuwel” Riesling, in particular, is highly regarded for its mineral savoriness and expressive character1.
Visitors to the winery can enjoy tastings in the charming cellar door and explore the beautiful surroundings of Traben-Trarbach, making it a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts1.
